Texan football cracks Top 10

For the first time since the 2002 season, the TSU football team finds itself ranked in the among the top 10 Division II football teams in the country.
Tarleton was ranked No. 10 in the Division II football poll released by the American Football Coaches Association. The Texans are coming off a victory over the No. 17 Midwestern State Mustangs.
The Texans are 7-0 for the first time since the program became a member of the NCAA . The Texans were 10-0 in 1990, but fell in the second round of the NAIA playoffs.
The Texans have been tied for the conference playoff position entering the final game of the last two seasons but consecutive losses to Don Carthel and the West Texas A&M Buffaloes have ended the Texans' playoff hopes.
Tarleton faces Eastern New Mexico this weekend in Portales, N.M., and then returns home to face Abilene Christian for Homecoming on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.
