TexAnn golf rounds out fall with fourth consecutive tournament win

EDMOND, Okla. - The Tarleton TexAnn golf team used a school record low round and a wire-to-wire individual victory by freshman Carla Cooper to claim the Broncho Masters Fall Classic in Edmond, Okla.
The victory, the fourth consecutive win of the season for the TexAnns, came thanks to a second day and school record total of 293. Tarleton shot a 298 on day one, helping to claim an eight-shot victory over St. Edward's (301-298=599) with a two-day total of 591.
Cooper, who shot a three-below-par 67 on day one, claimed the individual title with a second-day 72 (139) to finish three strokes ahead of SEU's Alex Smith (72-70=142). Tarleton's Shraddhanjali Singh tied for third with a two-day total of 148 (79-69) while Andrea Lowe finished tied for fifth with a 149 (77-72).
Also competing for the TexAnns was Maury Shock (75-80=155) and Melanie Tham (79-82=161). Morgan German competed as an individual medalist, and she finished tied for 23rd with a two-day total of 160 (84-76).
The TexAnns also finished ahead of West Texas A&M (314-321=635), Central Oklahoma (314-322=636), Southwestern Oklahoma State (317-334=651), St. Mary's (326-331=657), Texas A&M-Commerce (331-330=661), Dallas Baptist (332-335=667) and Cameron (333-335=668). Also competing in the event was East Central (348-342=690), Western Texas Community College (344-349=693) and Newman (348-350=698).
The TexAnns wrapped up the fall portion of their competitive schedule with the tournament, which was hosted by Central Oklahoma. Tarleton will remain idle until the championship season begins in the spring of 2008.
