Students of all sexual orientations listened to speaker Dr. Daniel Helminiak speak about the topic of "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality" on Wednesday night.

The student organization, Promoting Understanding of Lifestyles thru Service and Education (P.U.L.S.E.) hosted the event at the Dick Smith Library's Multipurpose Room.

"He really helped our members to know how to be religious and gay. He gave good tools on how they can coincide in a peaceful way," said Leslie Blancas, President of P.U.L.S.E., about Helminiak.

"Last night's attendance was between 10 and 15 members, which is a good attendance," she said.

P.U.L.S.E. is also hosting a "Pride Parade" today from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parade route will begin in front of the Barry B. Thompson Student Center and finish at the Administration Mall.

"P.U.L.S.E. has invited the entire Tarleton community and all of the organizations on campus, as well as the Student Government Association and the Center for Diversity Initiatives," Blancas said.

Helminiak will be speaking on the topic of "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality" again immediately following the Pride Parade in Room 116 of the Humanities building and everyone is invited to attend.

P.U.L.S.E. hopes to "offer a different perspective on lifestyles and a different point of view on a controversial topic," said Blancas. "We hope to broaden their horizon."

P.U.L.S.E. meetings are every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the library Student Lounge Conference Room. "Everyone is welcome. They are just asked to be respectful of others and their beliefs," Blancas said.
