TexAnn volleyball wins two

TexAnn volleyball fans got to see some action last week as the girls had a two-game home stand against Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's University.

On Thursay, Sept. 27, the TexAnns battled the Texas A&M-Commerce Lady Lions. Tarleton won the first game 30-25 and the second 30-21 handily before losing the third game to Commerce 30-28. Tarleton was able dominate the fourth game and won 30-22.

Shay Gracy led the TexAnns offensively with 15 kills. Missy Castro followed with 14, Emily Richardson with 12, and Alisha Bourgo with 11. Susan Domine contributed as well with 30 assists. Prayr Giebler had 25 assists.

Defensively, the TexAnns were led by libero Shea McBrearty with 24 digs. Missy Castro followed with 15 and Alisha Bourgo with 12.

Saturday's game featured the TexAnns and a pesky team from Texas Woman's University that played the TexAnns extremely tough. TSU won the first game 30-27, third game 31-29, and fourth game 30-18. TWU won the second game 30-20.

The TexAnns received strong efforts from many players. Leading the way offensively for the TexAnns was Susan Domine who had 33 assists. Prayr Giebler had 19 assists as well. Missy Castro had 16 kills and Alisha Bourgo followed with 15.

Missy Castro was very active on defense and led the squad with 18 digs. Alisha Bourgo had 13, and Shea McBrearty had 12.

The two-game win streak puts the TexAnns at 9-10 on the season and 3-3 in Lone Star Conference play. The TexAnns will return to Stephenville on Tuesday, Oct. 9, to face Dallas Baptist at 7 p.m.
