Rodeo takes two second places at Weatherford

Tarleton's men's team, led by all-around champion, Ryle Smith, won second at the Weatherford College Rodeo this weekend. Smith made the short-go in all three timed events and won the calf roping with times of 9.5 and 8.8. He also won third in the steer wrestling with times of 5.3 and 4.8, and made the finals in team roping, but did not place in top four.
Also placing in the calf roping for the team were Ryan McClain who won the first-go with a 9.1 and was 10.9 in short-go to finish tied for fifth with RB Shield who was 9.7 and 10.3.
Caleb Scott was 5.3 and 5.4 in steer wrestling to finish fourth in average. Tarleton had four teams back to short-go in team roping with Justin Briggs and his partner Jay Mannng of Texas Tech winning long-go with a time of 6.1 and they won second in average. Clay Dan Alexander and Smith were seventh in long-go with a 7.9 and 15.6 in short-go finishing sixth.
Ty Hillman and his partner Arena Robertson were 8.5 and 16.5 with the barrier penalty to finish seventh and Taryn Krantz and Trigg Bell were tenth in long round, but had no time in short.
The women also won second in the rodeo with points coming in all women's events. In the breakaway roping Lindsey Ewing and Emily McLauchlin tied for first in short-go with a time of 3.3 and with their 2.9 in first-go ended in tie for third in the breakaway. Jacey Honey won fourth in long-go with a 2.8, but had no time in the short-go.
Bailee Switzer led the goat-tiers for Tarleton as she tied with fourth in first-go with a 9.4 and won the short-go with a 9.1 and finish second in average. Taryn Krantz won the first go with a 9.1 and was 10.5 in short to win sixth. Kirby Eppert was 9.8 and 10.7 and was eight in average.
Lacey Hollabaugh continued to be consistent for the team in the barrel racing and she tied for third in long round with a run of 17.27, then ran a 17.25 in short-go to win third and finished fourth in average.
The teams travel to Sul Ross State University this weekend to compete in the third Southwest Region Rodeo of the fall season.
