"We've been on the road and it was rough," TexAnn head volleyball coach, Mary Domine-Schindler, said.
"A lot of the players haven't been in this kind of atmosphere but we had a full gym and it was great."
The TexAnns started off slowly, losing the first game by a score of 30-18, but came roaring back, winning the next two games 30-26. SAU was able to win the fourth game 30-25 but, Tarleton pulled out a win in the fifth game and escaped with the victory.
TexAnn Missy Castro led the way for Tarleton with 16 kills, 13 digs, and four aces. Shea McBrearty led the TexAnns defensive effort with 23 digs of her own. Tarleton, as a team, ended up with 70 kills on the night along with seven aces. Several other TexAnns ended up with double digit kills as well. Alisha Bourgo had 13, followed by Emily Richardson with 12, and Shay Gracy and Allison Hill with 11 each.
With this win, the TexAnns improve to 5-7 on the season with matches coming up against Eastern New Mexico on Thursday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 2 p.m. against West Texas A&M.
