The rodeo season kicked off with a bang this year as Tarleton was easily able to dominate Hill College in the annual intramural rodeo.

Troy Nail of Hill College was the only qualifying ride in the bareback riding and took first place and $120 in prize money. Texan Louie Brunson was able to edge out Hill's Tol Crawley in the saddle bronc riding. Brunson beat Crawley's 55 with a score of 58 and took home $144 in prize money.

Steer wrestling also featured another one-on-one match up between Tarleton and Hill College as Tarleton's Bode Scott was able to beat Hill's Trent Spivey handily with a run of 4.84 seconds.

Tarleton took first, second, third, fifth, and sixth in the calf roping with Jay Hollabaugh coming out on top with an 8.69 and taking home more than $234. He was followed by fellow Texan's Bode Scott, Travis Isbell, Cole Fincher and Aaron Heberger.

In the team roping, Tarleton State University's Lance Jowers and Juan Alcazar turned in a time of 6.56 and took home $232 each. Justin Briggs and Tarn Frantz took third with a time of 7.04 and each took home $152. To round out the team roping Tarleton's final two teams, Cole Fincher and Travis Isbell and Matt Robertson and Tee Hillman, placed fourth and fifth respectively.

In the barrel racing, Tarleton's Lacey Hollabaugh took first, followed by her teammates Micheal Ann Wilson and Sierra Thomas.

Tarleton also had great success in the breakaway roping with Daysha Hulme taking first, while Lindsay Ewing took second, Katy Kune fourth, and Amy Hutchins and Ricci Karkula taking fifth and sixth respectively. Jacey Honey and Taryn Krantz tied for first in the goat tying.
