In a battle of Division I versus Division II, Tarleton defeated the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks by an overtime field goal to earn their second win of the season.

After scoring the first points of the game, Tarleton gave up 17 unanswered points to the Jacks, going into halftime. Out of the break, the Texans caught fire. Quarterback Scott Grantham found Travis Evans for a 53-yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 17-14. Grantham completed 16 of 22 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns, including Evans' only catch of the night. The other touchdown was thrown to Antonio
Brown.

The Texans later scored a field goal to tie at 17.

With 1:44 left in regulation, Nathan Robinson redeemed himself after two muffed punts by taking one back 79 yards to the endzone to give the Texans a one touchdown lead.

The Texan defense, led by Marcus Phillips with 13 tackles and Ranardrick Phillips with 10, had problems with All-Southland Conference quarterback Danny Southall all night. Southall had 133 yards rushing and 184 yards passing. He ran from nine yards out to knot the game at 24.

With only 11 seconds remaining in the game, Arnold missed a 47-yard attempt, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, the defense came out on the field and forced a fumble, giving the Texans a chance from 25 yards away.

The offense drove the ball eight yards, giving Arnold a chance to redeem himself.

With the hostile crowd screaming and Texan fans cheering, Arnold set up from 37 yards and split the uprights to give Tarleton the walk-off win in Nacogdoches by the final of 27-24.

The Texans will travel to Durant, Okla. this Saturday to play Southeastern Oklahoma University. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
